![]() ![]() What apps and sites are Cast-enabled? AppsĬasting to your TV is a simple way to enjoy your mobile apps on a big screen. The process involves plugging your Chromecast into your TV's HDMI port and a power source, then installing the Google Home mobile app on your mobile device to begin the setup process, and following the app's setup instructions. It's important that your Chromecast and device or computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The Google Home app is the same app you use to control other Google hardware, like Nest Hub, and to set up smart home features to control via your phone. You also need a compatible Android device or iOS device with the latest version of the app - called Google Home - installed, or you need a compatible Windows computer, Mac, or Chromebook with the latest version of the Chrome browser installed. For Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast with Google TV, it has to be a wall socket, or there isn't enough power for it to work. In order for Chromecast to work, you need to plug it into an HDMI input on a TV/display, as well as connect it to a power supply. Unlike the other Chromecast models, it doesn't support video, instead Audio lets you wirelessly "cast" to speakers and connects via 3.5mm, although this version isn't widely available - mostly because audio casting is now widely supported by smart speakers directly, without the need for a dongle. Google also offered the Chromecast Audio in the past. Services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Chrome (the browser), Android and many others support Google Cast, so it's a great platform for streaming. Importantly it uses the Google Cast protocol to get that content on your TV, so there needs to be support from the source that you're using. This will let you open an entertainment app on your phone and - via Chromecast - play content on your TV. ![]() It's important to note that most of what we discuss below only applies to the Chromecast side of the Chromecast with Google TV.Ĭhromecast connects to your home network and can then be controlled with your smartphone. This newer model is about half as expensive, but it only supports up to 1080p, whereas the original supports 4K playback. If you don't like seeing the notification icon when Volume Booster is off, just go to Volume Booster's Settings and set it to appear only when Volume Booster is running. In 2022, Google introduced a cheaper Chromecast with Google TV. The notification icon is just for ease of launching. When you set the boost to zero, Volume Booster will be off. This is not for adjusting the speakerphone volume in phone calls (that has its own boost, I think), but for adjusting the volume of music, movies and apps. It should work on 4.4 and higher, as well as on devices below 4.2.1. This app does not work on most 4.2.1-4.3 devices. Try it at your own risk and see if yours works. Consider this to be experimental software. If you hear distorted audio, lower the volume (but it may be too late).īy installing this application you agree that you will not hold its developer responsible for any damage to hardware or hearing, and you are using it at your own risk. Some users HAVE reported destroyed speakers and earphones. Playing audio at high volumes, especially for a prolonged amount of time, can destroy speakers and/or damage hearing. Useful for movies, audio books and music. ![]() Simple and small app to boost your speaker or headphone sound volume. ![]()
